Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents ask me before we start working together. If your question isn’t here, email me at paola@restedlittle.com — I answer every one myself.
What does a pediatric sleep consultant do?
A pediatric sleep consultant assesses why your child isn’t sleeping, builds a customized plan around your baby’s age, schedule, and your family’s parenting style, and supports you through implementing it. I’m certified through the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management (CPSM) and I work with babies and toddlers 4 to 36 months.
How much does a sleep consultant cost?
At Rested Little there are three packages: The Sleep Blueprint is $288, The Restful Nights Plan is $588, and The VIP Experience is $888. Every family starts with a free discovery call, so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting before you pay anything.
What’s included in each package?
The Sleep Blueprint ($288) is a 60-minute consultation plus a written customized sleep plan. The Restful Nights Plan ($588) adds two weeks of ongoing support while you implement it. The VIP Experience ($888) includes four weeks of comprehensive support for families who want someone alongside them the whole way.
At what age can you start sleep training?
Most babies are developmentally ready for formal sleep training around 4 months adjusted age, once they’ve moved into mature sleep cycles. I work with babies and toddlers from 4 to 36 months. Before 4 months, I focus on gentle habit-building rather than training.
Do you use cry-it-out?
Only if that’s what a family chooses. I use responsive, evidence-based methods and I match the method to your comfort level — gradual retreat, pick-up/put-down, timed check-ins, and fading approaches are all on the table. Most of the families I work with do not use extinction.
How long does sleep training take?
Most families see meaningful improvement in 3 to 5 nights and consistent sleep in 2 to 3 weeks. Gentler methods take longer, usually 2 to 4 weeks. Naps typically improve 1 to 2 weeks after nights do.
Do you work in Spanish?
Yes. Consultations, written plans, and all ongoing support are available in English or in Spanish — you choose, and you can switch. I work with Spanish-speaking families across the United States and in Latin America.
Are you virtual or in person?
Rested Little is 100% virtual. I’m based in Skokie, IL and work with families across the Chicago area — Skokie, Evanston, Wilmette, Niles, Morton Grove, Lincolnwood, Glenview, and Park Ridge — and virtually with families anywhere in the United States. Virtual works as well as in person, because sleep changes happen in your home over several nights, not in a single visit.
Do you work with families outside the Chicago area?
Yes. I work virtually with families nationwide and in Latin America. Everything happens over video call and messaging, so your location doesn’t limit the support you get.
Will sleep training hurt my bond with my baby?
No. The research on this is reassuring — studies following sleep-trained infants have found no negative effects on attachment, stress levels, or the parent-child relationship. Well-rested parents are generally more responsive and more present during the day, not less.
Can I still breastfeed or night feed while sleep training?
Yes. Sleep training and night weaning are separate projects, and many families do one without the other. If your pediatrician says your baby still needs night feeds, we build them into the plan and work around them.
My baby has reflux, is a twin, or was premature. Can you still help?
In most cases yes, with adjustments. For premature babies I work from adjusted age. For medical conditions like reflux or allergies, I coordinate around your pediatrician’s guidance — I’m a sleep consultant, not a medical provider, and I’ll tell you plainly if something needs your doctor first.
What if it doesn’t work?
That’s what the support period is for. Most of the time when a plan stalls, it’s a schedule issue or an inconsistency between caregivers, and it’s fixable within a few days. You’re not left alone with a PDF — the check-ins exist precisely for the nights it feels like it isn’t working.
Do both parents need to be involved?
It works far better when everyone caring for your child at night is on the same page, and I strongly encourage both parents to join the consultation. Inconsistency between caregivers is the single most common reason sleep training takes longer than it should.
How do I get started?
Book a free discovery call at restedlittle.com. We’ll talk about what’s happening with your child’s sleep, I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help, and you can decide from there. You can also email me directly at paola@restedlittle.com.
