Toddler Sleep Consultant: Calm Bedtimes, Later Mornings

I’m Paola, a certified pediatric sleep consultant (CPSM) with 14 years of experience with young children, first as a Pre-K to third grade teacher and then inside families’ homes as a nanny. I help families across the US with toddlers from 18 to 36 months get bedtime back, 100% virtually.

Toddler sleep is a different problem

A toddler isn’t a big baby. They can climb, negotiate, ask for one more book and one more glass of water, and remember exactly what worked to get you back in the room last night. What helped at 9 months usually stops working somewhere after 18 months, and a lot of parents are told it’s “just a phase.” Sometimes it is. Often it’s a pattern that needs a plan.

What I help toddler families with

  • Bedtime battles. Stalling, negotiating, and bedtimes that drag past an hour.
  • 5 a.m. wake-ups. The early start that leaves everyone running on empty. Read why toddlers wake at 5 a.m.
  • Climbing out of the crib. When to move to a big kid bed, and when to wait.
  • Disappearing naps. Nap refusal, the 2 to 1 nap transition, and the late afternoon meltdown.
  • Night wakings. Toddlers who wake and call for you, or show up in your room at midnight.
  • Regressions. The 18-month and 2-year regressions that turn into habits. Read about the 18-month sleep regression.

How it works, all virtual

  • 1. Free 15-minute call. Tell me what’s happening at bedtime and overnight. I’ll tell you what I think is going on and which plan fits, or if you don’t need me at all.
  • 2. Strategy call and custom plan. A 60-minute call, then a written plan built for your toddler: the schedule, the bedtime routine, and what to do at every wake-up. See a sample plan.
  • 3. Support while you do it. Daily messaging so you’re never guessing on night two. Toddlers test new rules, and that’s exactly when you need someone in your corner.

Virtual works especially well for toddlers. There’s no stranger in the house changing how your child behaves at bedtime, and I’m available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., not just for a one-hour visit.

Is this gentle?

Yes. I don’t use extinction, and I’ll never ask you to leave your toddler alone crying. You stay present and you respond. Toddlers may protest a new routine, and that’s a normal part of change, but how much support you give and how fast we move is matched to your child’s temperament and your family’s comfort level. • The VIP Experience, $888. Four weeks of support for complex or urgent situations, including sibling and room-share plans.

Not a sleep issue? If bedtime is fine but the days are hard (tantrums, limits, siblings), The Everyday Week is a one-week parenting support plan for ages 1 to 8.

What families say

“Pao brought peace and harmony back to our home. We did the consultation for my 2-year-old triplets and it was the best decision of my life! I admit I didn’t have much hope, but in just a few days Pao did what I thought was impossible: the triplets sleeping TOGETHER and ON THEIR OWN in their room, with no night wakings!!!! Recommended 200%.”

Toddler sleep FAQ

What age do you consider a toddler?

I work with children from 3 to 36 months. This page is for toddlers from about 18 months to 3 years old.

My toddler used to sleep well. Why did it fall apart?

Common triggers are a regression around 18 months or 2 years, a nap transition, a new sibling, starting daycare or a move. The good news: a toddler who learned to sleep once can learn again, usually faster.

Should I move my toddler to a big kid bed?

Usually not before they are ready. Climbing out is a reason to talk it through, not always a reason to switch. We decide together on your call.

Can you help if my toddler is in daycare?

Yes. Your plan works with your daycare nap schedule, not against it.

How long until bedtime gets easier?

Most families see real improvement within the first week and consistent sleep within 2 to 3 weeks. Here is the night-by-night sleep training timeline.
